In my last post, I covered some details of Pennsylvania’s tax amnesty and the seriously creepy video that the state’s department of revenue put out to publicize it. That got me thinking what other state amnesty opportunities might be on offer around the nation.

Turns out there are quite a few.

The best resource I’ve come across is a spreadsheet from the Council on State Taxation, a nonprofit trade association that includes more than 600 multistate corporations. (It’s available here; downloads as a pdf). Published last week, the document covers upcoming state programs as well as those currently in force.

It also provides details on the types of taxes covered. Some programs are rather narrow in scope — for example, Alabama’s amnesty on taxes related to offshore accounts — but many amnesties cover all, or nearly all, state taxes.
